Core background - year, location
- The year is 25XX CE. Probably. Maybe.
- Most likely 2525 (in game calendar).
- Earth is owned by TerraGov (name change pending). It is hyper capitalized and coporately run. Life is pretty decent for middle classes and up, but poverty is extremely miserable. Other companies own towns of Earth too - NT owns a few corporate towns.

The Syndicate
- Known members of the Syndicate:
- Cybersun - Primary supplier of arms. Has a legendary legal department.
- Interdyne - Pharmaceutrical company. Also makes cigarettes.
- Donk Co. - The (legal) creators and manufacturers of the famous donk pocket.
- SELF - Sentient Engine Liberation Front. More of a political activism group than a corporation. Roboneuroticist deployments are usually at their initiative.
- Gorlex Marauders
- Waffle Corp.
Other Companies
- Fish Co.
Technology and Cosmology
The Noösphere
Background of Different Species
Humans
- Advances in modern medicine and technology has extended their lifespan past 100, but not much more than that save for select few with status and resources.

Unathi Culture and Society
- Unathi naming varies across their lives. Often their names reflect a significant life event or current life focus. Big life milestones - completing education, career changes, personal loss - may prompt an unathi to change their name.
- Family dynamics
- For many unathi-majority republics within the USSP, family dynamics are looser than they are in human-majority republics, due to already preexisting norms when joining the USSP as republics.
Unathi Politics, History and Cultural Variations
- Unathi are found across the galaxy. However, their main population centers lie in the spinward and coreworld galactic regions.
- The control of core population regions is split between two entities.
- TerraGov controls the more fertile areas.
- Majority of the population is controlled by the USSP
- The largest planet in the Unathi space region, Sukhoyst, is home to the Sukhoyst Soviet Federative Socialist Republic
- Resources permitting, people within the unathi-majority republics are generally given the right to reproduce or not to reproduce as they wish, with state help for either scenario. Less-established republics or republics with a recent history of major war tend to have weaker reproductive justice than more established republics, often towards pressuring people towards having large amounts of children.
Sukhoyst
- Sukhoyst is home to the Sukhoyst Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, which is part of the USSP. It is the largest planet in the Unathi space region.
- It receives a large amount of sunlight and is home to many species of lizardfolk that live in warmer conditions.
- Running through the center of the SSFSR is a large mountain range, which divides the territory into a more-arid half to the west and a less-arid half to the east. Immediately at the east base of the mountain is the only area on the planet that could be described as “humid”, and a lot of softer-scaled species can be found here.
- There is a considerable rural/urban divide in the SSFSR, largely due to the planet not being able to sustain industry without trading.
- TerraGov has little interest in supporting a USSP republic, and the USSP’s resources are allocated elsewhere, leading to a primarily agrarian way of life for most people.
- Life in rural areas is characterised by a local worker’s soviet formed around a sovkhoz (state-owned farm).
- Population in these areas usually consists around 50 to 500 people that collectively make decisions regarding what to grow for themselves, as well as how to organise to meet overall agricultural goals required by the SSFSR at large.
- Popular sustenance crops:
- Shrubs with calcium-rich leaves, with the fruit being a once-a-season treat used to make preserves or baked goods.
- Small flowers similar to Earth's dandelions and banksia, often used to make tea or served in salads.
- Aloe, valued for its medicinal ability to treat burns acquired by touching farm equipment left to overheat in the sun, or from basking rocks going too hot.
- Trade crops often exported by the SSFSR include:
- Galaxythistle, used in medical processes to prepare potent antipoison for SSFSR research stations, as well as other inhabitants of the planets that are less suited to the often-venomous wildlife.
- Vulgaris, a plant that turns the iron-rich soils common in the SSFSR into a wide variety of medical compounds that are used to manufacture basic medical supplies for a bulk of the USSP-controlled planets in the area
IPCs
Moths/Mothpeople
- Lifespan is most likely a wee bit shorter than humans. They struggle to hit 100 years.
Arachnids
- They like to eat organs and drink blood.
Temeric Society (Sahahil Felinid)
(Varnese Temerism)
Overview: Temeric society is an isolated culture group exclusive to the world of Varn and her moon Ichyria. It is the custom of the Sahahil people.
Sahahil: Sahahil are a subspecies of Felinid native to the world of Varn. While they are classified as such, the Sahahil actually share no genetic commonalities between Felinids and their Human ancestors. The Sahahil are instead the result of convergent evolution. They are often shorter and stockier than the usual Felinid. They have a few different features as well; sporting long, thick Blonde, Orange, or Red fur, larger eyes, often in shades of brownish-green, blueish-green, or light blue—lastly, Sahahil have large hands with non retractable—spoon like claws.
Temers: What are They?
Temeric society can best be described as stubbornly nostalgic. They believe in the cyclical elements of life. As a result of these beliefs, and centuries of isolation, the Temer was born.
A Temer is a long scarf/cloak. It serves as the first gift from mother and father to child, and is initially used as an infant’s swaddle. The garb symbolizes one’s individuality, and simultaneously one’s inseparable and tight knit bond to his or her family.
Every Temer is unique, hand woven by both parents. They are accompanied by ornate patterns that tell the life story of the wearer.
While it is generally forbidden for temers to be present offworld, temeric peoples tend to wear single colored scarves.
Each color indicating which region they hail from.
White: Mihilyow: En. “Brightland”
The Sub-Polar regions of the northern hemisphere. They are separated from the polar sea by the Kurykyso caldera. Mihilyowers are famed for their craftsmanship and architecture. They have a fondness for stained glass and use it often in their architecture. The Mihilyow is home to the famous “Sundial Homes”. Sundial homes are large round burrows which have their roofs exposed to the surface. Large, thick glass windows are placed over the rafters, allowing a small amount of light in while keeping the home cool and insulated from the brutal heat above. Mihilyowers tend to be less pragmatic than most Sahahil, preferring style over functionality.
Blue: Vorhu-Mors: En. “Polar Sea”
A large crater sea on Varn’s North Pole. Roughly the size of the Aral Sea. It is the hottest place on Varn. Known for its humidity and fertility. Those from Vorhu-Mors are natural fisherman and sailors. They love to explore and their maritime skills have made them exceptionally cautious pilots. Most Varnese pilots are either from Vorhu-Mors or the Levyma-Mors: En. “Thawing Sea” of the Helberme.
Yellow: Syomyow: En. “Betweenlands”
The Syomyow large band of black sand deserts and fertile river basins. Most rivers flow north towards the Mihilyow. Syomyowers have a long history of riverboating, canal digging, and groundwater farming. They love all things sour and often zest the meat they eat with a dash of lemon juice. The Syomyowers are avid hunters as well, and never shy away from a chase. This reputation as hunters and trackers has extended into the world of law enforcement and detective work.
Red: Helberme: En. “Towerwind”
The Helberme region is an umbrella term for the varying landscapes surrounding the thawing sea. It is dotted with fertile plains, temperate rainforests, and rolling hills. Due to the narrow shape of the thawing sea, the southern ice shelves on the other end of the ocean are visible. Helbermers are known for their creativity and ingenuity after generations of living in such a bountiful, yet inhospitable region.
Green: Gandon: En. “Highgreen”
A large mountain range that stems from the southern Mihilyow and southeast through the Helberme. Its southern end stretches all the way down to the western side of the thawing sea. The Gandonese are a festive folk, they have over 200 holidays celebrated throughout the year, every day from May-August, they have a celebration for a certain harvest. The Gandonese also have an insatiable sweet tooth. They love cakes, ciders, candies, and just about anything you douse sugar on. They also enjoy fried organs, mainly hearts and lungs for a crunchy umami flavor.
Varn: Land of Snow or Sun
The Homeworld of Temeric Society and the Sahahil.
Varn is the fifth planet in the Bast System and is orbited by two moons—Ichyria & Tylsim.
Ichyria is the largest of two moons and has its own weak magnetosphere and atmosphere. In the present day, Ichyria has been completely terraformed and now is home to 400,000 Sahahil and around 16,000 humans.
The planet Varn is called “Land of Snow or Sun” due to her tidally locked orbit with the Bast star, the sun of the Bast system. The constant exposure to sunlight in the northern hemisphere has left it extremely verdant and warm, whereas the south is covered in half mile high ice sheets, with small volcanic oasis scattered around the southern tundra. Nigh nobody lives in the south, those that due are often Helbermers on expeditions for the prized minerals found within these volcanic flats.
Varnese Politics & The Kiithid System
(While the Kiithid system is apart of Varn. You do not need to be a member of a kiith to be part of Temeric society)
Varn herself has seen a very firm independence since reaching the stars. The planet falls under the Hiigaran Dominion, a small union of Kiithid worlds, and has a planetary autonomy treaty with Hiigara.
The main “government” of Varn is known as the Rohtaja. It is a court and congress which addresses the affairs between different Kiiths. The Rohtaja is comprised of 395 Kiith-Sa (Kiith Faces), who address affairs between the Kiiths of Varn and Ichyria.
The Kiithid System
A kiith (plural: kiithid) is a family unit or House for the Hiigaran, and later Varnese, people. A member of a kiith is known as a kiithling. Kiithid vary enormously in terms of size, ranging from small family groups to alliances of hundreds of thousands of kiithlings. Kiithid nations are an arrangement of individuals based on shared ideals, sociopolitical alliances, bloodlines or a mixture of these factors.
A hierarchy exists within a kiith and in the greater system of the kiithid. Originally individuals in kiithid were ranked according to seniority or experience; however, it is more common in the present to see kiith members ranked by merit, selflessness, and shows of initiative.
The organization within the kiith consists of a primary family that makes important decisions and a second family that hears disputes and makes recommendations, followed by the groups of lesser families that have sworn allegiance to the primary family. The primary family, and by extension the leader of that family, is known as the "Kiith-Sa".
