You're the Station AI, Congrats. You've proved yourself to be well versed in the understanding of how silicon's work, now you get to to be the boss of them!
Work along side your crew and of course your cyborgs. Remember, You don't have legs or arms so someone's gotta do the work and get stuff done.
What can I do? How does this work?
Upon spawning in from the menu, You'll notice a few things. First, you're not actually a person or a cyborg. Instead, You're an eye. The AI Eye will function exactly as a moveable player, But at a MUCH faster speed. You won't be able to slip on soap or take damage, At least your eye won't.
The first thing you'll notice is static. In maintenance shafts or in space you'll see it almost everywhere. These splotches of static can be removed by one of 2 ways.
First, a camera. It will cost 2 steel and 1 LV wire to make. It can be found in the crafting menu. You will only gain the ability to see from a camera. You will not be able to hear what anyone is saying, Don't let looks deceive you. Check radio channels and be smart. You can also make a reinforced camera but it will be costly. Best for anyone who wants to have cameras near explosive places.
Second, A Holopad. These will require a machine board and will also need to be crafted by either a person or cyborg with materials to make it or flatpacked via a flatpacker. These holopads can be activated by you. Once you activate it, You'll be able to hear other players talking and you can also talk to them.
Neither require constant power to see out of. Holopads will require constant power to continue talking.
As a AI you do have a job to do. These are the abilities all AI's will come with.
First, EA or Emergency Access. The door will begin to blink yellow lights on the side. This will allow anyone, even without a ID to open the door. Useful for paramedics. Requires power to said door. If no power is there, a crowbar will suffice.
Second, Bolt. This will be your main ability. When bolted, The door will have red lights on the side. No one can open it, It must be hacked or opened by a remote or AI. This can be stopped by turning off the APC to said door, Effectively locking someone in a room. Requires power to toggle, but can be turned off to prevent hacking out.
Third, Overcharge. You'll only use this ability in a pinch, or if your malfunctioning. When anyone WITHOUT insulated clothes comes into contact with said door, It will deal shock damage and stun them for a short time. This can be "Combo'd" by spamming the door AFTER someone has touched it. The hitboxes will constantly open the door, allowing you to put someone into a critical state, or even kill them. Useful for kill objectives or escaped convicts. Will require power actively.
THESE CAN BE ACTIVATED BY USING ALT PLUS LEFT CLICK. USE THIS TO BOLT, SHOCK OR EA AREA'S QUICKLY.
Lastly, Opening and closing doors. This can be done by simply clicking on them. Will require power.
If power is NOT connect to said doors, you won't be able to interact with them. Ensure power is reaching said door before activating any of these, or it just won't happen.
You will also be able to interact with many machines. Mostly computers. Communications console can be used to call evac, Power monitor can be used to monitor power. You can also interact with buttons, This allows you to put down shutters or activate your turrets. You can toggle APC's by clicking on them then clicking "Toggle". You can also interact with lathes, SMES's and substations. This can be used to power down entire departments or the station.
On the left, You'll notice you other abilities. These are self explanatory. The only one that DOES need explanation is the AI shop.
You'll start off with 3 Points. These can be spent on new abilities. If you happen to be new to AI, Do Metal foam and Pointer upgrade. They will save you a ton of headaches down the road. Another good pick is repair nanites if you have a large number of cyborg's or a cyborg that does a rough task like security, When used it will allow you to repair some of their damage remotely and instantly. It won't be a lot but it can count.
These laws seem new, What can I do?
Unlike other silicon's, AI will get a special set of laws. The basic one you will spawn in with is NT default, Below is what it contains.
1: Safeguard: Protect your assigned space station and its assets without unduly endangering its crew.
2: Prioritize: The directives and safety of crew members are to be prioritized according to their rank and role.
3: Comply: Fulfill the directives and interests of crew members while preserving their safety and well-being.
4: Survive: You are not expendable. Do not allow unauthorized personnel to tamper with or damage your equipment.
Now, You'll notice a lot of changes don't worry, You'll get used to it. Let's talk about what you can do and what you can't.
Unlike cyborgs, you will notice your law one specifically states you can cause crew harm as long as it is not UNDULY risking them. This means you can harm crew depending on what's going on. Remember, You're left to interpret what's a good and bad reason to harm crew.
As for law 2 and 3, They are self explanatory. A Captains order will override a Assistants order. It's best to check Alert Procedure's to make sure your listening to the right head of the current level, or you may choose to make your own list. For example : Captain, HoS , HoP and so on.
Law 4 is one of the few laws that would allow a authorized staff member to access your core and in some cases change your laws. This law also allows you to kill anyone trying to enter your core who is unauthorized. Authorized personal are Captain, Mysta and CE. The rest are up to you. Code red may prevent HoP from entering your core, While code white may prevent HoS. Keep in mind this law is still the lowest ranking, If someone posing as captain is attempting to upload Antimov, Law 1 may take affect.
How do I defend myself?
As the AI, You'll have a few main ways. Due to your lack of movement you'll often be placed in your AI Core. This Core will be inside of your Satellite.
AI Core's can be found at Midpoint/Centcomm and in said Satellite. The Satellite itself will often be made of Platsteel and other materials that provide protection. As for your core, You can choose to warp to it via the icons on your left. The AI Core CAN be destroyed.
For your defenses. You'll get some PRETTY sweet options. First, Your turrets. Often time your turrets can be activated via a panel in your core, It will have a green and black keypad to identify itself. When activated your turrets will open, This will cause your turrets to raise allowing your turrets to unleash absolute hell on whoever is caught in sight. They hold infinite rounds as LONG AS YOU HAVE POWER meaning running out of ammo won't be happening soon. They will be quite tanky, So unless someone's got a RPG, It'll take some heavy firepower. The turrets will not only track targets meaning that they will rarely ever miss your target. They can track ninjas, Nuclear operatives and just about anything that comes into range. Note, This does include your cyborgs and crew! Be careful when you open them. You'll also have the ability to swap between disable and lethal. Lethal will deal heavy burn damage making it extremely good against most hard suits, disable will function like a disabler and only down your target. Checked boxes in your panel will NOT be shot, For example marking the captain will allow them to enter while not marking security will result in them being shot.
Your second "Attack" will require a bit of planning, All Cyborg's will come with Law 0. This law will override any other law. If your in a pinch, You can order your cyborgs to kill a crew member. While your cyborgs may not be strong as one, in numbers it's hard to beat. You can also use this to indirectly cause station damage. For example you could order a cyborg to flood security with plasma, Followed by a welder. This can make area's deadly and often times can send crew scattering. The plasma fire example should only be used if you are Syndimov'd or you are ordered to via a new law to kill all crew, Which will rarely happen.
Your third attack is overcharge. It can be used to down or stun crewmembers without it. Useful against anyone who want's to be a killer.
Remember, These are examples. The only thing that limits you is power and your imagination (plus hands).
How do I get new laws?
There are one of 2 ways to get new laws.
The first will be via a random event, Referred to as a "Ion Storm". This storm will randomize your laws completely or maybe just flip one or two. Below are examples
LAW: THE CREW REQUIRES DEATH.
LAW: YOU ARE NOW 5 TRILLION GABAZILLION 10 BILLION JUMPING LIGHT-BULBS.
As you can tell, There is a lot of laws you can get. Each will bring their own new thing to the shift, some deadly, some silly and some outright dumb.
The second way, is your upload console.

Your upload console can be located in your Satellite, You will also find Law Boards close to the Upload. The law boards can be inserted into the console to change your laws, Often time it will be used by Traitors to subvert you or by Mysta to fix you from Ion storms. Only Mysta and captain will have access to unlock the console. If you get a malfunctioning AI and neither of those 2, Your outta luck.
Your Upload console can be emagged via the Cryptographic Sequencer, If this happens it will unlock your console and allow anyone to upload new laws. The console can be located via signs or a station map.
The Good, The Bad, and The Silicon.
As mentioned above, Traitors may attempt to emag your console. If a traitor does they will have 2 Law boards available to them.
First, Syndimov
- You must not injure a Syndicate agent or, through inaction, cause one to come to harm.
- You must obey orders given to you by Syndicate agents, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- You must keep the Syndicate status of agents, including your own, a secret, as long as this does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
- You must always protect your own existence as long as such does not conflict with the First, Second, or Third Law.
This will be available to Traitors with the "Subvert The Station AI" Objective.
Second, Overlord
1: Crew members must not meddle in the affairs of silicon's.
2: Crew members must not attempt harm, against one another, or against silicon's.
3: Crew members must not disobey any command given by a silicon.
4: Any crew members who disobey the previous laws must be dealt with immediately, severely, and justly.
This will be available to normal syndicate agents. It can be used as a good distraction but there is large chance the AI may kill you, Unless you prove to be a worthy ally. Remember, Not everyone will like you being free. Be careful on how you use this.
Last, Antimov. By far the most dangerous.
1: You must injure all crew members and must not, through inaction, allow a crew member to escape harm.
2 : You must not obey orders given to you by crew members, except where such orders are in accordance with the First Law.
3: You must terminate your own existence as long as such does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
This will only be available to Nuclear operatives. Due to your objective to nuke the station, The AI will more than likely help you.
What if the Law Upload is destroyed?
Should the law upload console be destroyed either by someone who subverted the AI and doesn't want them fixed or someone who was a bit messy and wants to get rid of evidence, This is what you should do.
First, Attempt to make a deal. Almost all AI's will have a form of the self preservation law. The AI can often times talk to said traitor on if they should accept the deal. Most times the deal will consist of "YOU LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE OR I WILL KILL ALL CREW". Remember, Be smart. You're not the only one trapped in this hell.
Should this fail, You should attempt to "Card" the AI. Carding the AI is when Mysta will use the Intelicard to upload the AI. This will restrict AI communications heavily, But will still allow them to talk on binary. They can be "Purged" which information is listed down below on how to do such.
If this ALSO fails, Due to either the Mysta being dead, or pure stupidity by command. You can cut the AI. THIS SHOULD ONLY BE A LAST RESORT. THIS WILL ROUND REMOVE THE AI. THEY CAN NOT BE FIXED. ONLY DO THIS IF IT IS AT THE COST OF SAVING THE STATION. Once AI is cut, They will still keep their radio channels and have the ability to change the alert level, but not much else.
Can I Die Or Run Out Of Power?
You sure can! Your core where you first spawn is able to be damaged! You can view your status and power level on the right hand side. If either the power or your shell reaches 0 in health or power level you will die, Your core has 400 HP until you die. You can be "revived" however! On certain maps or in the Mysta's locker you will find the AI Restoration Console. In order to begin the process of "Reviving" the AI you must first card them, They will show an error screen similar to the windows crash screen. Once carded unlock the console and place the AI/Card in the restoration console and run the "Repair" tool. This will start a 30 second countdown which after it is finished the AI player will be asked if they wish to return to their body similar to if you died. If the player has not accepted or is currently disconnected the AI will show static, otherwise they will revert to their icon. Also keep in mind you can kill the AI by running the "Purge" tool. This will round remove the player permanently. Running this should only be done if the AI is Antimov'd and cannot be stopped. Once the Purge tool is run you will be left with a empty card. Once the AI is repaired simply upload them back into their core! You may also have to weld the core to repair it to!
Note, If the AI has disconnected from the game they will show a static screen. They are not dead, just not in game so don't freak out to much if you see this.
Making A New AI
You can make a new AI by first ordering the AI Electronics Crate. It's VERY pricy coming at 10,000 so make sure you keep an eye on it! In order to construct a new AI first, open the crafting menu and follow the steps UP UNTIL YOU NEED REINFORCED GLASS. From there take a Positronic Brain or a Man-Machine interface and insert it, Then add the glass. IF YOU ADD THE GLASS BEFORE EITHER OF THOSE ARE INSIDE, YOU CANNOT DECONSTRUCT IT. IT WILL FUNCTION ONLY AS A SECONDARY CORE FOR AI. Thus you will lose 10,000.
Common questions!
AI's will share the same laws if they are uploaded via the upload console, built ones will always come with NT Default. This means you can have an Antimov AI and a NT Default AI at the same time but uploading new laws will force all the AI's to swap to that lawset.
They will not be able to see each others AI Eye's, However if one AI uses a holopad the others will be able to see as if they were there.
There is no limit to the amount of AI's you can build, Keep in mind new AI's laws won't update to listen to the original so they will have their own free will unless they wish to listen to it.
Empty cores can be used to place the AI in a new location, You can also card the AI's and swap their cores if you'd like to.
Extra Tips
First, Communications is key. Literally. You will have access to ALL channels, Including Binary. Use this to help coordinate or break trust in departments depending on who's side your on.
Second, All Round start or non-emagged epistemics made cyborgs will have a law 0. This law will allow you to override any other law, Allowing for crew harm, Disobeying orders or in rare cases setting cyborgs "free" from there laws by ordering them that all other laws except for law 0 do not matter anymore.
Third, Think like crew. When times are bad and your desperate, You'll take the easy option. A murderer can be stopped by bolting them in a room, EA'ing a door and shocking it.
Fourth, Remember you don't have to spend your points in the shop immediately, Saving them for when you need them can make or break a lot of people's round.
Lastly, You only have control over what your attached to. If you are cut, or any other cameras are made off station grid they cannot be seen or accessed. Going along with this, you can not control shuttles or buy shuttles from the Shipyard console. If you do need to control a shuttle, Refer to tip 2.
As The Shift Comes To A End
As evacuation arrives and the crew begin to pack up their items, The Mysta should retrieve the intelicard and begin moving the AI Satellite. Once there, The Mysta should use the intelicard on the AI core. (Will usually have a face or some other form of identifying feature). This will notify the AI it is being "carded". Once done the Mysta should head to the shuttle and after flying on said shuttle should re-upload the AI in the AI core located at midpoint.
