The United Nations Armed Forces were formed in 2100 with the signing of The United Nations of Earth Concord. While a relatively underfunded entity, the UNAF received most of its funding from small corporations seeking to protect their outer rim colonies and hauling corporations seeking protection from piracy while en-route to Sol.
It is documented that in 2155 the UNAF received a drastic increase in funding by its private service department of 1.8 billion Spesos, with the prior years only earning 100 thousand spesos on average. It is documented that this was a “lump sum” paid for by multiple large corporations for “protection,” although most of these agencies had their own active security.
