Guides: Medical

You are essentially a rescue medic. You spend most of your time outside medbay and/or in space to find dead crew members, provided they have their coordinates on.

Beside your EMT belt that you arrive with; you must gear up in the paramedic room of medbay. Depending on the station, there are usually two lockers and sometimes two suit unit lockers.

Always on Call

What you see using your crew monitor.

When you are a Paramedic, it is your duty to be on call for whenever anyone requires emergency medical aid anywhere on the station. Your job is to rescue people, take them to medbay, and leave them to be treated there.

You can also perform first aid, diagnosing injuries and diseases with the help of a health analyzer or your PDA. Most of the times, your Handheld Crew Monitor will tell you enough. At least as long as people have their suit sensors on.

Keep the monitor screen on and put it in your pocket or jacket slot, it's extremely useful. When someone shows up as damaged, find them using their coordinates and either suggest them to go to medbay or take them there.

The job is very simple. Find and transport people safely to medbay. But even that can prove challenging under certain hostile scenarios, so be prepared.

Paramedic Equipment

Medical Belt

As a paramedic, your belt starts off filled with a portafib with a medium capacity power cell, a bruise pack, an ointment, a bloodpack, a roll of gauze, and 3 emergency medipen.

Handheld Crew Monitor

Running on a small capacity power cell, this is your main tool in finding dead or dying crewmates if they have their coordinates on. It will display a map of the station, and on the side, list of crewmembers in their respective departments and their vitals if applicable.

Key on Senors:

  • Off: Displays no information.
  • Binary: Display whether a crewmate is dead or alive.
  • Vitals: Shows the health status of the crewmember.
    • Good > Okay > Bad > Crit.
  • Coordinates: Shows vitals and exact location of crewmember.

It will also beeps if a crewmember status changes to critical!

Gobal Positioning System

A tool that shows you your exact coordinates, handy if you get lost in space and need someone to find you.

Emergency Jaws of Life

Allows you to pry open powered airlock in case of emergency.

Roller Bed

One is found in your locker. Buckle the injured onto the bed and give them a ride to medical. Some station will have normal roller beds.

Body Bag

A box containing 4 bags can be found in your locker. These bags allow you to easily move dead crewmates (and station pets) and prevent them from rotting. If you need more, the morgue usually has spares.

Paramedic Void Suit

Sometime located in your locker or a suit storage unit alongside an oxygen and nitrogen tank, it is extremely useful for rescues in space. On some station, there is only one suit. You can wait for Epistemics to research the suit or try to get an EVA suit from the Head of Personnel.
